Top 3 spots for a weekend outdoors in Stockholm
We have been daydreaming about pre-summer in Stockholm the whole winter. Finally, this precious time of year is here.
And Stockholm is such a picturesque city, much thanks to its waters and the green surroundings. Let’s discover a few of our favourite places.
Monteliusvägen, Södermalm
Stockholm is ideal for taking long walks. The viewpoints are plenty and it is easy to find your own favourite spot. One of the nicest paths is Monteliusvägen on the heights of Söder. The promenade, which is named after Professor Oscar Montelius, was inaugurated in 1998 and runs on the precipice high above Söder Mälarstrand. The view over Riddarfjärden, Kungsholmen and Stockholm City Hall is fantastic. Take a seat on a park bench, put on a pair of Ahkka Forest prince and enjoy!
Nyckelviken, Nacka
Situated not far from the central city, this oasis is great for an excursion. As an outdoorsy cultural area, you are surrounded the nature reserve’s vast meadows and many old oaks, while you can enjoy Lilla and Stora Nyckelviken, two well-preserved summer mansions from the middle of the 18th century. Enjoy a walk, visit the greenhouse and flower garden, eat lunch at inn or have a fika on the terrace. What to wear for the occasion? Tärendö Purple reed of course!
Grinda island
Hop on a steamboat! You can not visit Stockholm without experiencing the archipelago – there is nothing more beautiful. With more than 30 000 islands, there are plenty to choose from. Grinda is one of our favourite destinations and a great choice. Easily reachable with boats departing from Strömkajen (the trip takes 1,5 hourse), the island offers several nice bathing spots and beautiful nature. Stroll around, have lunch at the inn, go kayaking, rent a bike, or take a dip. Don’t forget your swimsuit – or your sunnies. A perfect choice would be Skaulo Willowherbs by the anthill.
